Know Your Numbers. Understand What They Mean.
Clinically supervised weight loss with Dr Faizal Secretary. Medical assessment, prescription weight loss medication where appropriate, and ongoing support — in Preston, without the wait.
The Problem With Doing It Alone
Losing weight is not simply a matter of willpower. For many people, biology works against them. Hormones that regulate hunger, metabolism that resists change, a body that holds on to weight even when you’re doing everything right.
If you’ve tried diets, exercise programmes and supplements and found the results disappointing — that’s not a personal failing. It’s physiology. And it’s exactly why medical supervision exists.
The Medications
Where clinically appropriate, the doctor can prescribe the latest GLP-1 weight loss medications.
Semaglutide (Wegovy)
A once-weekly injection that mimics a hormone your body naturally produces after eating. It slows digestion, reduces appetite and helps you feel full sooner and for longer. Clinical trials show average weight loss of 15% of body weight over 68 weeks.
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro)
A dual-action once-weekly injection targeting two hormones involved in appetite regulation. Clinical trials show average weight loss of 20–22% of body weight — the most effective prescription weight loss medication currently available.

Weight Loss — FAQ
Is prescription weight loss medication safe?
GLP-1 medications are licensed in the UK and have been through rigorous clinical trials. Like all medications they have potential side effects — the most common being nausea, particularly in the early weeks. The doctor will discuss these fully.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Clinical trials show average weight loss of 15% with semaglutide and up to 20–22% with tirzepatide, when combined with lifestyle changes. Individual results vary.
Do I have to inject myself?
Yes. Both medications are given as a once-weekly self-injection using a small pre-filled pen. The doctor will demonstrate exactly how to use it.
How much does the medication cost?
Medication costs are set by the pharmacy. The doctor will give you a clear indication at your consultation.
What happens when I stop taking the medication?
Weight can return when medication is stopped, particularly without sustained lifestyle changes. The doctor will discuss a long-term plan at your follow-up appointments.
Can I get this medication online without seeing a GP?
Basic blood draws can be arranged during a home visit. Please mention this when booking.
